Really like them and i know they can be a bit aggressive towards other fish but would i be able to keep them

My stocking is trigon 190/42Gal filtaration is an eheim 2226 can add internal if needed

20 ish guppys(waiting on fry to grow so i can sell them back to lfs once they go i'll have 12)
14 neons
8 red wags(soon to be going to Bf's tank)
6 danios (soon to be going to Bf's tank)
2 julii cory
3 peppered cory
2 albino
1 common plec(4/5inch)

Would i be ok with angels aswell ? or would they nip the ass out my guppy's tails ? Tank is some what planted with more plants coming at the end of the month

Do they have any special dietry requirements?

Cheers :D

I was told by my LFS not to put Angel fish with guppies - for the reason you mentioned - fin nipping!

hmm so possibly get rid of my guppies too :( really after a centerpiece fish without going down the gourami route lol

Going to have to think ...damn !

Angels will eat anything that fits in their mouth and will nip the fins of anything with nice fins. What about a pair of german rams? They are fine with my guppies and are so colourful (they dont grow so massive either!)

How big do the rams get ? I do want something thats going to get big ...Not huge but bigger than my guppies . I like kribs as well but don't really know that much about them ...Guess i'm going to be doing a LOT of reading this evening !

Anyone offer any other suggestions of what will be suitable in the tank with current stock ?

Like i said, rams should be fine with your current stock - one thing though, they will eat guppy fry that are under a month old, similar to angels in that if it fits in their mouth they'll eat it. Aside from that if the tank is well planted then fry should have some hiding places. The rams grow between 5 and 8 cm so not huge but still bigger than a guppy :)

You could also go with Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlids. I wish i coulda got some of those for my tank, but LFS didnt sell them so i have 2 bolivian rams.

Both these fish are very colourful though :D

Goodluck!

The guppy fry i'm not really bothered about i do have a fry tank so if i REALLY want the guippy fry i'll just tansfer the female over but i've missed the last 3 lots due to the fact i've got cory fry in there..And cory fry are cuter than guppy fry :D lol

Do Ram's have any special dietry or water needs? Hidey holes/Caves? Gravel or Sand ? as i'm lookin to switch to sand at the end of the month. Also which part of the tank do they tend to "hang out" in? lol would preffer if they are an all level fish

Sorry for all the questions and Thank you for all the answers :D

Well i know bolivian rams (i have them and have reserached them, so i will only speak for them lol) are sensitive to water quality, but mine it any sinking food including algae wafers that they steal from my bristlenoses lol. Mine swim around the bottom and middle of the tank. I believe they will need some caves as their "own territory".

Also i dont think it matters whether you have gravel or sand because i have gravel and they dont mind it, but i hear they use sand to cover their eggs to hide them from predators so both will be fine, i believe.

just had a wee read on the ram's and it says they like ph no higher then 6 ...Is this correct ? If so they're out of the question as my ph is a very stable 7.5 Never budges lol waterparam's are always spot on no ammonia NitrIte 0 NitrAte at about 10 do a 25% water change every sunday

Could i get a checkerboard cichlid? These look cool lol Think i'll have to start another topic wentfrom angelsto cichlids!LOL sorry for confusion to anyone who's reading this

Not sure about which Ram you read up on. But serach for bolivian rams and they are fine upto like 7.6. Mine is 7.4 and they are perfect, coloured up ALOT and are showing breeding behaviour :)

Not sure about the other cichlid though.
