The fire has reached the county that I live in, and some people I know have to evacuate. I think I am far enough in the city that I might not have to evacuate, but I want to have a plan in case I am wrong.

I plan to put the betta in a cup with a lid in the cupholder. I don't think I will have enough room to take all of my other fish, because they need more room and an airstone, but I know gouramis are labyrinth fish like bettas, so could Paul, my blue gourami, be in a cup in the cup holder next to my betta? The other fish I either have to leave, or I might put them in a 5 gallon bucket and give them to the first pet store we come across when we evacuate. I know its not ideal, and my heart breaks at the thought of parting with my BN Pleco, but I don't have a better idea. I am having to stuff 4 dogs, 1 cat, 1 kitten, 5 rats, and 1 rabbit in an extended-cab pickup truck.

Sorry if I got a bit off-topic. Could a 2 inch blue gourami live in a cup for awhile?

not in a cup, but he could probably make do in a cool-whip container or similarly-sized tupperware. :/

you know, people ship fish across the country all the time. if you have room for a 5g bucket in your truck, then you can just fill it halfway and lug your fish around in that. they'll be fine for a day so long as you can get them clean water and set up an airpump that night.

i hope everything works out well and it doesn't come to this.

I agree, the 5 gallon bucket idea is definately sufficient. I would definately get a battery operated pump if you can, it's worth it to have one around anyways. You could also bring your own air pump and just use it wherever you go. The fish should be fine for a while in their as long as they're community fish. It wouldn't be too hard to change the water either with the bucket, just change water out with cups in a sink or whatever.

Good Luck and God Bless!!!
I'll say a prayer for you and your fish.
