Can you leave plants in the little "pot" thing they come in with the cottony stuff in the bottom if you have fish?

I've done it. I think it causes a lot of algae though.

it will most probably rot, it should be removed

the rock wool should usually be removed, however in some cases like when planting fiddly plants like HC ect, some ppl cut it into cubes with the plant still embedded and plant these.
