I have two questions regarding my Corys.
1. I have two peppered corys that I bought together and they were both the same size, 8mths later one hasn't grown at all but the other is huge. The little one feeds well and I can see no obvious symptoms of ill health, does anyone know why this might be?

2. I have two leopard corys and have a similar situation except the big one in this case looks like she's going to pop. I don't think it's dropsy as her behaviour is normal, swimming and feeding fine. Could she be pregnant? I say 'she', I have no idea what sex she/he is, she just looks like a 'she' to me :)
They are in different tanks btw

Well maybe one is a male and one is a female. The females get bigger than the males. Post pictures :)

Thinking the same here. The females are bigger in size and 'fatter' (apparently, I'm still struggling to work out if mine are boys or girls!)

Cories don't 'get pregnant' though. They are egg layers. She may be carrying eggs though and it's up to the male to furtilize them.

I also can't click post without saying that you really need to have more than a pair of each. Cories prefer to be in a group. I have no idea if you know this but I wanted to say in case you didn't :)

Obviously that was my first thought but the differences between them sort of threw me because whilst the leopard cory looks fit to burst she's not that much bigger than the male but with the peppered, the male looks like a miniature version of the female, she's enormous, more than twice his size! But not fat like the other one. Is this normal then? I can stop worrying?
I'll have a go at getting some pics but only of the peppereds, the big leopard vanishes as soon as I show any interest in her, no point even trying there.

Hi Akasha, yes I do know that...didn't know that when I bought them though, but I can't add anymore at the moment as I will be horribly overstocked. The tanks are only 30ltrs each but I have a much larger one waiting for a space to set it up.

I'll stop worrying about them as it sounds like it's just a case of female and male. My other pair, the first ones I ever had are still the same size so they must both be males, good, all sorted then.
Thanks :good:

Hi, glad you know and yes, 30 litres isn't big enough for anymore. I'm the same, my tank is 110 litre and I had 4 of each (peppered and bronze) until I lost a peppered. Hoping to replace it this weekend :)

Bronze cories £2.50. Peppered £2.99 .... £6.00 in my wallet SOLD
