If I put one in my fry tank would it eat them?

No, it wouldn't eat the fry, but it would be very unhappy on it's own; they are a very social fish.

Why do you want to put one in anyway?

It wouldnt eat the fry as corys are bottom dwellers, so unless a fry died it wouldnt be interested. Corys do need to be in a group of 6+ so it would be one unhappy fishy.

I have been advised, by far more experienced fish keepers than I am, that cories can indeed present a threat to newborn fry, although I have yet to experience it myself. It is something to keep in mind if you have troubles.
