My Julii’s are eating the Thrive Caps capsules. (Not the actual tab, just the protective green shell that slowly dissolves)

Should I remove them? They have never done this before. ?

Can they be pushed into the substrate more so the Cories don’t have access to them through the sand?

I pushed them down as far as they would go in the sand. The issue is that these things float like crazy. So as the caps start to dissolve, they get bigger a float.

I’ll just try to manually remove them?

That’s so weirdddddd. I would’ve thought the sand would hold them in place! I suppose if it were me I would take them out, some of the ingredients may be ok to be in the water but not to be eaten?

I am not saying it is not possible, but it is unlikely the cories are actually "eating" these. They browse every surface they encounter, and aquarists often assume they are eating algae or similar, but they are not. I would think it unlikely any digestion is occurring. I would however do everything possible to keep the capsules buried, for no reason other than effectiveness for the plants. Perhaps a small rounded stone on top of each one?

Interesting, thank you for the information!

I put some small stones on the remainder of the caps, and removed as much as I could.

Here is what they were grazing on:
