Cornish Oak Wood Piece

Been a while since I've posted and soon to be logging my journal.
But Ive got a question...

When I first setup I chose a nice piece of Cornish Oak for a centre piece but it had not been soaked.
So I have been soaking it in a box out the back door with a lid on it for nearly three months now regularly changing the water.
It's FINALLY sunk to the bottom?

Can I add it to my tank right away? Should I do the boiling water stage again before adding?what do you guys recommend?

Maybe just give it a quick rinse and scrub with boiling water for peace of mind, I wouldn't worry about boiling it though.

hello i am interesting at doing the same thing but i was going to stick it in the tank before it had sunk just weight it down I've been told to make sure the wood is dead? did you get your wood already dead? or did you make it dead?

I use locally collected wood a lot... as long as it is completely dead and dry (no rotting areas or green living wood) then it should be OK to use. Avoid using pine and similar hardwoods as they contain resins which may never fully disappear.

I brought mine already dead but it was tanning the water loads and left it out.
And have been soaking for four months ish now.

When I return from Christmas visits to family I'm going to scrub it with boiling water and add.
