Cories

thanks! They are all very active, save for the biggest one who was traumatized a couple months ago when the tank temp dropped to 58ºF and killed off almost everything. She just hasn't been the same since, but in the last week has finally started moving around and snuffling. Just not as much as usual!

Nice pics. I have 8 Cory Melini. Wish I could get them all together in a group and take a pic and upload it. If I go near though they disperse a bit.

I gaze at my cories so much every day they're used to me. I took these pics after I'd dropped a couple of veggie rounds in the tank. Then they don't even know I'm there!

I cheat by putting in some sinking wafers, that soon brings them to the front of the tank for pic taking

It strange though, they could all be chilling out,has soon has one bit goes into the tank, they all come running(well wiggling  ),built in sonars me thinks

A bit of help please. Here. (Sorry for hijacking Spouse. I'm very happy for you and your cories!) How long before your 55g has sand? ;)

I'm wrangling all my tanks now to find room for the new 28g, then the new 50g, then the 55g goes upstairs to my husband. Then we'll have a spare 20g and 15g! I'm still working on my 10g for the crabitat. Got everything set up in the right place, and now the fish are in their little bags acclimating nicely. I decided to just put the ghost shrimp in with my male guppies, and that's where I put the majority of the assassin snails as well. I might move some over to the crabitat if I think I need to.

My GOD this is an addictive little hobby, isn't it??

You definately have MTS!! :good:

I have 2 tanks in the shed 30l & 90l,i would love to set up,but no room...

Love the white sand in your other tank, glad it worked out ok in the end :good:

I also cheat and put a wafer in too get them showing off, Love there little wiggle. One of my favourite fish too watch. :good:

Harlequins, your photos are what really inspired me to go on the search for white sand. Well, that and our trip to the Gulf Coast of Florida! I like it quite a bit now that its in the tank. As I mentioned in another thread, the only thing I don't like is the massive amount of poo that's now very evident from Mr. Pleco.

On the other hand, at least I know just how much there is and can vac it up easily. When we tore down the tanks yesterday I was amazed at how much muck there was at the bottom. Eww.

The mess is one of the reasons that I don't intend to keep plecs. Some people seem to think of them as a "clean up crew" when the reality is that they need their own clean up crew.

Thanks  ,when i turn the sand during w/c's its surprising how much the cories flick it around and i found poo underneath whilst cleaning it

To jump on Spouse's comment... Harlequins, looking at the videos of your cories a while back in the sand was the tipping point for why I went with sand. It was beyond convincing.

The pleco was one of the first fish in my newbie, uncycled and scary tank. He's survived this long through fish-in cycling and that terrible cold water spell, so I'll just keep cleaning up after him until he outgrows my tank.

I got him for algae, not for a clean-up crew. At least I knew that much!
