Corey's Not Happy With Myxazin

I have a barb which has fungus type growth on its 'nose'. Think it came in with it, as it popped up less than a week after putting it in my aquarium. LFS recommended protozin, did two cycles of that and whilst it did drop off during treatment it grew back when treatment finished.

So LFS recommended Myxazin. Left 4 days between treatments, did 50% water change prior to starting new meds. Put the Myxazin in last night and today my pepper corys really aren't happy. They're lethargic and one has sat in the same place all day, really not usual behaviour.

The 'fungus' is just on this one barb, has not spread despite being in tank in treatment for nearly a month.

I'm worried the Myxazin is hurting the corys and don't know what to do for the best.

It's a 200 litre tank, 12 tiger barbs, 7 harlequins, 1 plec, 7 pepper corys. Ammonia and nitrite consistently zero (established tank), nitrates 20.

Did you run carbon before using the another meds? Carbon removes any trace left from the other meds but if you didn't the chances of both of them mixing in with the water could be quite deadly to fish in the tank.

I hadn't, have had bad experiences with carbon in the past so never use it. I was assured that leaving it at least four days after the Protozin (actually left it six days) plus the water change would be sufficient.

I'm wondering if I should halve the dose or even put the Corys in my spare tank until treatment is complete (it's only a 26 litre and there are seven of them).

I just don't know what to do for the best.

Sadly even with leaving it and water changes. It will still be there, You can only truly remove it with carbon.
What put you off carbon? I never use it unless meds are used.
 
You could put the corys in the spare tank but I think the damage may have been done. I'd be looking at a 80-90% water change.

I suppose there is another option, I could use my spare as a quarantine and treat the barb in it?

Corys are not breathing rapidly or anything, is 90% really needed?

Ok so I've done a 70% water change, corys much happier.
I'm going to get a hospital tank set up in the morning and treat the barb in that.
Are there any shoal issues taking him out on is own the re-introducing him (knowing how heirachical they can be!)

Many of the Waterlife products that I've used have caused my Corydoras to become lethargic but this didn't alarm me too much as all their medications can be used compatibly with Corydoras. I think you did right, however, to do a large water change because the Myxazin seems to be one of the products that Waterlife are keen to not have interactions with their other medications.
 
I can't help you with the shoaling question as I'm not familiar with that fish; however I would prioritise treatment over re-introduction issues.
