Okay my hot water tank has ben replaced along with the pipes. Unfortunately my hubby had copper pipes installed. I know after a while copper can build up in the water system and eventually kill my fish. What can I do to neutralize the copper in the water ?

tap water conditioner should neutralise the Cu in the water,
However i did some plumbing last week and the fresh copper in the system obviously had some effect on my shrimp as they died.
Copper pipes shouldn`t really make a diffrence, once they bed in but if your worried, simply run the tap for a few miinuites before you use the water for the fish tank,
this should flush any water thats been sitting in the copper based pipes out leaving you with fresh water.

Ph also has an effect of how much coper will disolve into your water supply water companys have to supply a water that is slightly alcaline to prevent copper and lead leaching into the system so test your tap ph and the higher the ph the less effect the copper will have...

Thanks. I have well water and it tests neutral. I usually let it sit awhile before I use it. I will let it run awhile to be safe and check into a conditioner for it.
