Cooling?

Hi to you all ,

I am new here but not new to the hobby, although had a few years away from it, suprising what changes in a short time.
Anyway, have any of you ever had the problem with the house/room that your tank/s are in being too hot regardless of what you do? Ive got a problem at the moment in that the room our tank is in is keeping the tank up to and just over tempreture, tits a consistent temp too, the heater is fully working and will kick in and out if i turn the temp up.
But its just the room is always so warm that its heating the tank for us, which is a bit of a pain as i say.
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this, weve tried a few things, ie lights off, covering one end (blackout)
The tank is not near any windows and not in direct sunlight?

What temperature does it increase to and what temperature are you trying to maintain the tank at? Also what fish do you have in the tank (or none yet?)?

Hi,
Its sitting between 28/29 degrees so no major fluctuations, as for stock theres some golden danios, black and blue tetra's,and glowlights, total of 13 fish in a 150ltrs.
The room is just excessivley warm as i said and as yet the tempreture is staying between the two figures quoted.
Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this problem.

If the temperature is permanently warm, either look in to changing the location of the tank to another room, or keeping species of fish which like the warmer temperatures.

I'm having the same problem with my tanks. the temp is stuck at 81...which isn't too serious..and they don't seem too bothered.

although i think it had one swordtail a bit stressed and then my gourami went after him..or someone did..and he wound up dead.

Thanks for the replies people, problem is if i do water changes i will be doing them every single day several times a day and thats not good, simply put this house is like a ruddy oven, even in winter its piping hot, we have even shut the boiler down (which is in a completely different area of the house) to see if any pipework running in the ceilings above were causing excess heat build up, and nothing,its just a hot hot house ,which is good as it saves on heating lol.

i was reading some other cooling posts.

truckasaurus said to fill ziploc bags with ice cubes and put them in the tank till they melt, then empty them, and fill em back up again. sounds like a good idea. need big bags though, or a bunch of little ones.
