What should i do to help my convicts spawn because they wont. Wold blackworms help? Should i do a water change or what should the temperature be set at?Anything to help thanks
But in my case, i usually keep my tank's temperature to 75 degrees. I had 4 cons in the tank for two weeks with no action. I did a water change on a Sunday and then raised the tank temp a few degrees over the span of two days til i got around 82 degrees. On that day i came home from work and discovered out of my 4 cons, a pair had formed.
Now it's 4 days later and they have scooped out a little pit and the male keeps trying to entice the female to the side of the driftwood over the pit. Basically anyday now i'm expecting to walk in and see some eggs.
Mine dont look like most either because the female looks almost blue because the black and whit like form on color instead of striped
the males stripes srent dark or anything either
Yeah they are pretty pale and plain looking when they are single
It's when they pair up that they really get vivid colors. When my two first paired up, the male turned almost pure black and the females stripes got very vivid and she got some yellows and blues on her fins. It's been a couple days and the male has returned to his old striped self but his bars are very vivid and he has some blue in his dorsal fin.
You never appreciate the true colors of these fish if you don't have a breeding pair.
I keep convicts in a tank and they lai eggs all the time. I havent done anything to help them on their way either. As long as they have places to hide and plants to eat.
But I do have one question. (I have only albino convicts for now) What happens if I mix in some regular convicts? Will they build pairs with the albinos and I get some sort of sick mix or will they stay with their own kind?
