Give them away or sell them to anyone offering a good home to them.

you're really going to need a more elaborate plan than that--but so long as you don't put too much effort into saving the babies from being eaten by mom and dad, you shouldn't be overwhelmed (i think)

Most cichlids but especially convicts, neets and festae will die protecting their fry without giving it a second thought. They won't eat their offspring.

:dunno: several people on here have reported that the parents will pretty reliably eat their current batch of fry at about 6 weeks or whenever the next spawn occurs.

Ahh, ok. I wasn't aware that they would be left in the tank forever. My bad. I don't know why but for some reason I was only thinking of newly born fry. Thanks for the headsup.

I agree then, when the next batch comes around the older babies will be treated just like any other fish since they will eat the fry.

hmmm. not trying to argue but id have to disagree.

ive had 4 different pairs of breeding cons and every single time they guarded there fry untill the fry were alrite on there own.

i guess this jus goes down to every cichlid being its own fish/personality and acting there own way.

You made the same mistake as I did. :)

They're talking about an older batch of fry that grew up, then a new one comes along, they will protect the new batch over the old one.

We're all saying the same thing and I was also saying they were wrong that convicts won't eat their fry and die protecting them but they will protect the new batch of fry from the older ones and maybe kill the older ones.

Wow, I don't know how to say it and the above looks like a jumbled mess. I hope you can decipher it. lol
