Whats that got to do with it.

A breeding pair in a 20 works. Nothing else you care to see live should be put in with them.

I have, in a 20 high. Easy to breed, probably as easy as platys or guppys.

How long does it take them because i had them in my 6ft with my oscars and then they were digging so i took them out as they were getting really agressive so i put them in my 20g how long befor they breed?

Do some cooler water changes a few times weekly. If they are mature, and you have at least one male & one female they should spawn in a couple of weeks. It helps to feed a little heavier as well, bloodworms & some beefheart help.

You could probably put some Melanochromis auratus with your Convicts, they hold their own extremely well.

Sorry but that would be World War 3, Auratus are incredibly aggressive, in fact one of the most aggressive Mbuna species. Add that to a breeding pair of Cons and you're asking for trouble at best and dead fish at worst. :/

All I heard when I told people what kind of tank I would be setting up was there is no way that can ever work, your fish are completly incompatable. It has worked though, granted Im running a 125g tank and not a 20 but despite popular beliefe, agressive cichlids can coexist peacefully in the right conditions :D

granted Im running a 125g tank

That's the key thing, right there. A 125 gal opens up a lot more possibilities with regards to bending the rules, in a 20 gal, this is simply not the case.
