Well after 12 days together it happened! Really excited as this is my first time with cichlids.

The female now doesn't leave the eggs apart from the quick swim out of the pot to grab some food, but not more than a few inches out, after watching for over an hour and checking throughout the day the male doesn't go in to the pot at all, he seems to flirt alot with the other two females who are both displaying their breeding colors, when he does go near the pot the female does seem to try and get him to come in but he just doesn't, is this normal? What could be happening? Also shall I move my 6 inch pleco to my parents house incase he eats the eggs at night?

Cheers for any advice :)

He likely defending the territory. Congrats by the way! If they layed today, you should have wrigglers by tuesday. And free swimmers by late saturday, early sunday. Every pair of convicts i ever get always spawn on sundays. And then the next sunday when i get home from churhc, the fry are free swimming. Woudl love more pic's! And, your female is fanning the eggs so they dont get funased.
