I have a pair of convicts in a 30 Gallon, the female is guarding vigirously over this terra cotta clay pot which is turned upright, so even after opening the tank hood to look into the water I can see around 50 of these small black dots, I know for a fact they hatched because they were on the inside walls of the pot and now they're off and laying on the bottom, when will these little guys become free swimming? They hatched overnight last night, so Id says its been about 12 hours since I have noticed them. I also see the female pecking the gravel and spitting it out in the pot, im assuming shes getting the ones that got out? Or feeding them?

Edit - Is it possible these black dots arent even wigglers, perhaps my eggs died or something?

Dead eggs are a pearly white colour. It may take another 2 or so days before they become free swimming.
As with the rocks, the may just be digging a pit of some sort.

You can feed them crushed flakes or frozen baby brine shrimp is easy. No need for micro foods.
