convicts & angels

how big is the convict? It depends on how old he is, well in my case it didnt because I have 4 convicts and a jack dempsey, yeah I will never do that again. Once the male was 3-4 inches long he killed all the fish in my tank even the jack dempsey. I dont know maybe it was just my luck.

I have two angels in a 100 gallon tank with four male cons, these cons were raised from fry in this tank and angels introduced at a young age with baby cons. These guys were raised toghether in a large tank. So it is posible.
The angels are about 5 inches and cons about 6 inches and all is well and has been for quite a long time.

Despite my sucsess mixing these unlikley tank mates I would not recommend it. Convicts are nasty by nature and if they turn on an angel ,the angel cannot defend itself .

I would only attempt with young fish and a large tank. Even then your taking a chance.

It's a bad idea, at best you'll have a couple of stressed angels forced to a small corner of the tank, once those convicts start breeding. Because convict aggression comes out most when spawning, and because these two cichlids use different parts of the tank, having a single specimen could work out fine, just keep an eye on things. In an aquarium any less then four feet long I wouldn't try it at all, even this way.
