Convicts And Plants

Are convicts very destructive (plant wise)?

i have convicts,and they do like to nibble, but i wouldnt say that they are terrible for it, think they do have a pull at them tho as i quite often find plants floating that didnt used to

I've had zero success keeping plants in a tank with Convicts. They will almost surely uproot them eventually and possibly destroy the plant completely. I tried planting mature amazon swords with long roots that I could securely place in the substrate and on top of that I put a rock where the roots laid beneath the substrate. Next day they were all torn up at the surface. Very destructive experience with Convicts and plants, but thats just my experience.

Would you recommend a bare tank or a tank with fake plants for a Convict tank?

i would say have a go with some, not very expensive plants, they may not be too bad, and i think they appreciate them,well mine do anyway

I'd go with caves instead of plants, preferrably many rock caves.
