Convict Vs. Angel

the prob is she's looking to mate

so until shes had her eggs, the angel will stay in the seven gallon.

angel in 7 gallon? come on do the right thing re-home that poor angel

http://www.gcca.net/howto/tank_divider.htm

Cons are always looking to breed, and are known as the easiest egg laying cichlid to breed. While the 7 gallon may be suitable for a healing tank, with daily 50% water changes, it is by no means a long term home. Either build a divider, link provided, or rehome one fish or the other.

That con can look to mate all day long, nothing will come of it until a mate is provided. Really build that divider sturdy if you plan on breeding cons in one side of a 28 while trying to keep any fish in the other side.

I hate to break it to you, but that is DEFINATLEY not the problem. The problem is, that Convicts are agressive fish. No matter what. I have never, ever had a Placid Convict, and I just sold over 40 1 inch long fry. All of them fought ect. Their parents fought, it's in thier genes. Even if you don't have another convict in the tank, they will still fight. If it is food, they want to be on top, with no other competition, or tank space ect. They will ALWAYS fight. It is NOT fair to the angel , being your selfeshness got the poor thing hurt in the begining, and from your other posts, you will probably put the angel back in.

Once the female lays the eggs, they will go bad, and she will eat them. She may lose some color. You might think "ohhh, she has finally cooled down", but nope, she hasnt. If you put the angel back in, you will end up in your same exact situation your in right now. This will keep happening until either:

A. You get rid of the convict, and put the angel back in a suitable tank size.
B. You sell the angel, and get a male convict
C. Sell the angel, and leave the female in her own tank.

Fish won't stop fighting because they have layed eggs, in cichlids( such as convicts), they become even more agressive.
I hope this advice, however harsh it seems, doesnt fall upon deaf ears.

okay. heres what ive planned out. once the convict has eggs, and the angels all healed up, ill put him in the tank. if the convict gos near him shes going back to the store. i have a euro tank i cant use/make a divider.

there is no way my angels going. hes the most beautiful fish in the world. sorry i cant sell him. i couldnt bare to see him not in my tank anymore.

That is asking for trouble. Did you not read my above post? Convicts are aggressive by nature, and just because you think your angel is the most beautiful fish in the world isnt going to change that. If you truly care about the angel you would take the Convict back. Besides, the chances of the female laying without the male, is small. How do you even know its a female, and that it wants to lay eggs? Do you have any pictures?

The con will do more than go near the angel, no doubt.

he has no idea what he is talking about. Just take the convict back, if it attacked the angel the first time, it will the second. Fish don't suddenly develop sympathy.

please just let us all know this is a late april fools joke....what if you put your two cats in your pic, in the same room as a lion? dont think that would be a pretty scene...just trying to get through to you in another way

well on one of your last posts it said you had an angel, a convict and a labidochromis in a 30G. so therefore the chance of either the convict or the labidochromis breeding is 0,
