Convict Parents?

Just out of intres how do convicts rear there fry, are they mouth brooders?

They are egg layers. They will use their mouths to collect young that stray too far away from their breeding pit but for the most part, the young are free swimming

When they are breeding... no. They are probably one of the most aggressive fish after they have bred. All cichlids are very protective of their young and will force other tank occupants to the absolute other end but cons are special because they do the same thing when they are usually half the size of the other cichlids so they are extra aggressive to scare the other fish away.

Its always recomended to keep breeding cons by themselves in a tank. Alone or when not breeding, they can be quite peaceful and fit in with other cichlid communities, but the young change everything
