My convicts spawned about 3 days ago, the eggs havent hatched yet, but I think I may know why because my tank temp is at a constant 75. If I bumped it up to 80 gradually would that result in shorter hatching time?

Btw, I thought it was amazing they spawned less than 24 hours in the tank.

I turned up my light to look at them and they look brownish, light brown. Female is constantly fanning them.

Well they are going to hatch, if they were white they would definaltey not. It will jsut take a bit of time, If you raise the temperature too much you may cause a sudden shock to them. Best thing to do is to leave everything as it is otherwise you risk scaring the parents and they will split and ignore the eggs.

Change a small percentage of the water - It seemed to help once or twice with mine.

Alright, like I said, they are definitly brown. I assume they are hatcing anytime soon, did your parents take good care of the fry? I can tell my danios will ween off a few fry. My male just trolls around the tank foraging, doesnt even seem to care too much about the eggs. He will chase them away if they are close, but 99% of the time the female is caring for the eggs.

Leave the temperature alone and just be patient. There's not much that can stop a pair of Convict Cichlids breeding and raising the fry. :)

Well you havent seen parenting like convicts before. Once they have the babies nothing will get near them. I have had a few nips from the in the past - Never try to rearrange things near them, even when the fry are older than a few weeks. Your hands will be worse for wear.

I lost a Juwel Cichlid to a pair before. They will kill anything that tries to eat there babies.

My future father in law had a full grown oscar chased away by a breeding pair before.

Just leave them to there own devices, they might seem as though they are eating them in the future, just watch, they are bringing them back to the nest
