I'm getting a convict tomorrow and I was wondering what, if any, dithers I could get to go in with it. It's a twenty gallon about three feet long and the only thing I have so far is a bristlenose. I was also thinking, if no about dithers, would a paradise fish work out instead? Thanks in advance.

You could try a few Giant Danios. Fast, reasonably sized fish.
Remember, Cichlid personalities do differ. Your Convict may enjoy the Danios's company, or it may go on a killing rampage. Only way to know is by giving it a go.

EDIT: oh and I wouldn't try a Paradise fish.

The danios should work though Im not to sure if they are the appropriate size. they can grow upwards of four inches and need a shoal to feel safe so when you have 5 or 6 4 inchers along with a medium sized cichlid in a 20G, gets a little cramped IMO. Im not sure how other danio species would fair but if they act anything like the giants in a smaller package then I think that would be a more reasonble way to go

Okay, so try danios, but don't get my hopes up. And no paradise. Alright, thanks guys.

Well, crap, the fish store said they didn't receive most of their shipment, so no con -_- Hopefully by Sunday or Wednsday I'll have one...
