my girl really wants a clown fish like the one from "NENO" but i don't know nothing about saltwater tank's, fish or anything at all so i'm starting off small with a 5 gallon tank.

5 Gallon marine tank is challenging enough for people who know what they're doing but a first timer out is going to be an expensive lesson. Most Clownfish will stay under 4 inches (if they live that long) and it's true they don't wander too far from their Anemone.

If it were me I'd start off with a 20 gallons for a few reasons. If there is a small change happening in a 5 gallon tank it's a huge thing since it's so small of a volume. At least with a 20 it's a little more forgiving or gives you enough time to correct it without the tank crashing (killing everything). If you want keep inverts like Anemone the water has to be very good (low on nitrite and nitrate and no ammonia). It's going to be "work" keeping up with the tank. I feel it'll be cheaper just to watch Nemo on the telly.

I've had tanks and fish since I was a kid, my dad did a lot of the work but I've grown up knowing a bit, I've then had my own tanks for 5 years, we've just downsized from 8 running tanks to 6, so I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about fish.

I've just started a marine tank and even for me it's bloody hard work. That's not to say you can't or shouldn't start one. But don't underestimate the difficulty of keeping them, if you want to then go for it, you'll love it, but go with a bigger tank and you'll need to spend a long tiem saving and doing research first. :good:
