My_tank.jpgI am finally happy with the layout of my tank, concerning plants, rocks and wood.

I think I do have a plant thats not strictly aquatic over in the right hand corner, but then again I get baffled when it comes to plants as i'm only just starting out my hobby. The new plants have been in there about 4 days now, seem to be doing okay. Although I will get a co2 unit when money allows to help the plants along nicely.

I took my water to be tested, even though I test it myself, I wanted to be sure and the guy said it was pretty good. He did say my ammonia level was ever so slightly above 0, I bought a product for this, but if anyone has any tips or advice i'd appreciate that, then again this tank is rather new a matter of weeks old, so its probably just a natural occurence that shall settle.
The other readings were

Nitrite:0
Nitrate:0
PH:7
GH:13
KH:8

I started out with 2 mollies, they've been in there for a week. Today I bought 2 clown loaches, 2 angelfish and a siamese fighter.

Hope you enjoy my picture, even if most dont like the substrate lol!

Very nice tank :) . Though you are right about that non-aquatic plant and the substrate :p :good: . In fact i think i can see another non-aquatic plant in there, the one of the left, but not the far left. Unless it's plastic.

There shouldent be any ammonia though, did you cycle the tank properly? And if you did how long did you leave it without fish after cycling? -_- :)

Hey, thanks for the compliment on the tank. I dont have any plastic plants in there, do you mean the one directly next to the wood? I know at some stage I may have to take the non aquatics out, Ive already taken two out, they were going slightly brown.

I was gently pushed into buying my mollies after a week, a very short time admittedly. I wanted to wait atleast 2 weeks before adding any fish, but I was in the shop and the guy was saying 'go on, get two mollies you'll be fine with them' blah blah blah and I gave in. I kept a very close eye on them because I really do not want to kill any fish at all. They are behaving fine and eating well so I think they are okay, I kept a good eye on my water quality and have done a few partial water changes. I bought some ph buffer, aqua safe (obviously), bio starter and some ammonia, nitrate and nitrite remover. As well as buying some oxygenating plants, an air pump and a waster testing kit.

I know to overstock the tank is a great mistake, so I am going to let my tank adjust to the new fish before even thinking about adding anymore. I want to make sure my ammonia settles before I start on anything else. The guy that tested it said it was so marginally over that he put it down as zero but obviously over is over so I bought something to help that out.

One thing I've just thought of, I think at first I may have been over feeding my two mollies, may this have caused a slight ammonia spike?

Cheers

Sorry for the bad news but the one far right that looks like bubbles are coming out of it is also non-aquatic. It's called white ribbon becuase of the white on it.

Yes thats what I thought aswell, I think I should take it out, instead of waiting for it to go bad?
Its a nice plant thats why im hesistant to take it out, but the health of my fish is first and foremost, I dont want any decaying plants in my tank.

Thanks for the comment ;)
