My guppy is really scaring me. Her scales are sticking out of her belly (Only in that area), and the right side of her body is pink. It looks like her insides are inflamed. I'm loosing hope. I separated her from the group, since I saw she was not joining in at feeding time and was distancing herself.
I tried to feed her peas today... She didn't eat any. My mother thinks she has worms or something. I think she's just constipated... Is she, though? I haven't seen her poop in a while.

She doesn't move around too much, either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking of starving her for a few days to see if it helps. Any suggestions...?

Pics are up!

Both pics are showing her PINK side. The other side is colored fine.
This guppy was bought from a pet store. <--- Not sure if this info helps.

she could be pregnant, hence the fat belly region. The scales standing out on one side could be dropsy but could also be a bacterial infection in her side. Bacterial infections usually show up as a reddish coloured area.

if the fish is still feeding then it is a good sign. If it's a bacterial infection then you can try treating her with a general purpose medication (something that treats bacteria and fungus).
If you have a photo it can help with identifying the problem.

I really don't think she's pregnant. I can't see her gravid spot at all. I'll try to upload a photo.
Bacterial infection...? Very scared now... :X
Thanks for the advice.

ok that isn't normal at all. I have never seen a fish that colour before, (besides a painted angel but that was man made).
She isn't pregnant and it is the wrong colour for a bacterial infection. It is the wrong colour and placement for intestinal worms. It isn't a skin parasite.
All I can think of is something she has eaten but that should show up on both sides, not just one.
Does the pink appear to be on the outside of her body or inside?

The Inside... But... Sadly now it's too late =(
We flushed her down the toilet because upon closer inspected left out by my crappy camera... I saw her organs- specifically what looks like the liver. It had black spots all over them... Plus her scales were protruding- I was convinced there was no cure... So... I flushed her down the toilet... :-(
I didn't want to see her suffer...
Thank you for offering your advice, anyways. *emoticon that's trying to smile buy fails horribly*
But really- thanks for your input.

Sorry to hear about that.
For future situations that might arise, you can put the fish in a small container of water and pop it in the freezer. As the temperature drops the fish slows down before it dies. If you add some Clove Oil to the container of water the fish will be knocked out (become unconscious) and then it can be frozen.
Flushing a fish isn't good because the disease can survive the sewerage treatment phase and end up in the natural waterways where it can affect native fish.

for future ref to the original poster, do not use this method

it is cruel and the fish will die a slow painfull death

Try cutting its spine behind its head, or clove oil

:)

For a guppy-a large glass -half full of water with3 to 4 large chunks of ice will put the fish to sleep, scientists say the fish has euphoric sensations in its brain as it goes unconcious......
