I already have a ten gallon, but it's already at capacity (plus there's a dwarf puffer, and even though she's an angel with my platies, I don't think even she could resist nipping at a betta  ). I was wondering what size tank a betta could live happily in. In some of the chain pet stores, they have signs up saying that a betta's natural habitat is just as small as those cups, and "betta houses", but I find that hard to believe. Even if it is, wouldn't there be a natural ecosystem to take care of waste and keep everything balanced, that wouldn't be in those cups or betta houses?

I'd love to get another betta (I had one years ago, and he seemed to live forever). He was in a one gallon fish bowl (one of those wide mouthed ones), and seemed to do fine, but I want to make sure I know how to set up a suitable environment, and save atleast one betta from "living" in a cup or two of water. ;)

 myself I have 3 bettas and I wouldnt house them in no less than a 2 gaqllon I think that is cruel putting them in those betta houses or those little fish cups. Those are the most friendly fish that anyone can have once it gets to know you when you bye one you will see when it starts to swim up to the glass when you walk in the room. You will think to your self( those has to be the best fish pet that anyone can own). And you will wonder how you made it this long without one or 2 of them,I wish you could put them together I would have a 55 gallon set up with nothing but bettas if you could keep them together.     Even though they are little  S to
