I love my congo tetras! Here's a few pictures of the elder congos in the tank:

This is one of the bigger boys.

This is my big girl. (There's another congo right behind her which is why she looks like she has double fins.)

Here's a close up.

WOW nice pics. great colours on your congos !

mine dont have that great colour, they look kinda different, i think its the lighting :(
at an angle mine look like yours, but most the time they totally look different ><

gimme some tips !

also, how long have you had them ???

(PS i think that 2nd pic of the congo is a male)

You've got some beautiful fish there but unfortunatly i know very little about them; is that fish actually glowing in the dark and is that natural or have my eyes misguided me  ?

That's interesting you mentioned that the "female" looks like a male because I've been thinking that, too, as the days go by. I was told that one was a female when I purchased the last group of three and it did look different than the other two at the time. But as time goes on, it's looking more like the other big males...

I have 12 all together. The orginal nine were just babies - but a couple of them are growing up very nicely and it is easy to tell they are boys. I've had the little ones since early February and the three bigger guys I've had for 6 weeks (?)

Anyway, I've noticed that the more frequently I change the water, the more brilliant and "glowing" they get! They've inspired me to do water changes twice a week on that tank. Also, the lighting in the tank is not really bright. It's just the bulb that came with the tank setup. I think the dark blue background helps with the coloring, too.

woooah, awesome pictures squirrelbuddies... such healthy and algae free plants (and fish of course). you're a pro. ;)

Well, I wish I could say it was my awesome photography skills that made the pics so clear  - but I think it's just the camera. I got a new Canon Ultrasonic recently. I also take the pictures away from the filter output so there are no air bubbles.

And Tokis -- they really do glow!! They glow even in daylight!

ive done heaps of research on congo tetras as they are my FAVOURITE fish !

all males develop the long finnage, and are larger than females.

they females in my tank dont compare to the males, they are pretty dull in comparison IMO

Thank you everyone for all the nice comments!! I've been trying for a long time to get my pics to come out good. I got a tripod for my birthday this year and that actually helped a LOT!!
