A few months ago I bought 3 young swordtails sex unknown. One rounded out and was definately female. Another grew a sword and became male. The third one is confused. Its slim like a male but has no sword. The anal fin is neither male or female but somewhere in between. It starts off rounded but goes to a point at the end not quite male but not wholly female either. Anyone else have this happen?

It's probably a late developing male. If the anal fin is beggining to point I'd say male. Just watch it closely.

the other male will be a dominatnt fish that is supressing the other, delaying its dovelopment. bear in mind that swordtail males are highly aggressive towards one another, especialy if there are few females. if you remove the other male, the "late bloomer" will dovelop, or you could move him to another tank with a female or two of his own

Thanks for the replies people. I have moved the sword to my sons feeder guppy tank. It should do fine there as it is larger than they are. I will now wait and see what happens.
