Cone Shelled Snails

i have a S.A cichlid tank and i want something that will destroy these snails and get along with my cichlids any ideas ? help apreciated

if you mean malaysian trumpet snails, they will do the tank more good than harm. but if you are intent on getting rid of them, i believe puffers eat them, but they have strong shells so maybe loaches would be a better choice as they can just suck em right out of the shell.

no idea whether they will get along with your cichlids though, sorry

its ok, isnt therre some kind of crustacean eating fish that is agressive and can take stick from cichldis and a 5" snake head ?

yeah, those are malaysian trumpet snails, cone shells are really poisonous and can kill humans. not sure if anything eats mts

My cichlids eat them.. my large ones at least.. they eat the snail right out of the shell.

That's a new one to me. I've heard many stories over them but never they were poisonous.

The freshwater prawn I had ate them, but of course, they're also notorious for killing fish. Mine disappeared though....

Cone Shell poisoning refers to MARINE snails Only, so you should be ok with the ones in your S.A Cichlid tank.

Those I know. Conks are one of the more commonly known names of some of them and they are definiately poisonous. As you say though, the MTS are quite harmless. I've picked them up by the dozen and never had any trouble with them and people feed them to their puffers and other fish all the time.

i ahve 3, but as 2 of thema re aprouching 8" there in a different tank.

the things in that tank i thought may eat them are....

silver dollars ?
hujet gar?
channa striatus [common snakehead] i know he grows massive hes getting a big tank when he gets around a foot or so.
i have a 6" severum ?
do nicaraguens or sajica eat snails? mine just wont eat the snails...
there has to be a compatable crustaceon eating fish besides puffers
