Hi. I have 2 three foot tanks, each of them set up identically - each tank contains a power filter containing some peat moss, a heater, pH in the low 6's, hardness 5 degrees gH, 3 degrees kH. The water in each tank is a nice amber colour. In the first 3 foot tank I have various species of male tetras, in the second tank I have the coresponding females.

The fish are fed well on live mosquito larvae, bloodworms, fish flesh, mysis shrimp, several brands of flake and pellets and occassionally live brine shrimp. Several months ago I noticed one of my female black neons come into breeding condition and fill up with eggs. So, I took her out, put her in a breeding tank with a couple of males and sure enough they spawned. Only a few of the eggs hatched so I put the male and female back in their respective tanks for reconditioning.

Trouble is, that particular female black neon and none of the other black neons have filled back up with eggs.

Hmmm. I'm thinking I must have fluked it last time....maybe there was something I did like a water change, change in temperature or something like that that triggered the fish to fill up with eggs.

Is there anybody out there who might have some thoughts or perhaps even know the sure fire reason as to why my fish once filled up but haven't again since?

Bob.
