I have just recently repaired a leak in the front of my tank and then took silicone around the rest of the seams just to make sure there is no other leaks.. i placed a twel under the tank and filled it to check that the leak was repaired. after 7 days of the tank being half full and the towel remaining dry, i remover the water, added my sand again and filled the tank and started the cycle. yesterday i felt the towel and it was soaked around the back now i dont want to empty the tank unnecessarily. could the towel be wet from condensation dripping from the hood or could there possibly be another leak i missed!!!

You state you "took silicone around the rest of the seams"... did you remove the old silicone? I only ask this as i have read that it wont work if you simply cover up old silicone, it has to be cut away, cleaned and bone dry before putting new silicone onto the joints.

when i repaired the areas that were leaking i removed the old silicone along the entire seam cleaned it with vinegar. rinsed it thoroughly and dried it and then replaced the silicone and after a few days added a second layer... i only did that around the seam that was leaking but when i added the second layer i went around the other seams and put a thin layer over them just to make sure they were ok...my fear is i missed a leak. i might have to spend my day cleaning the tank again to check for other leaks!

and the verdict is.............leak... a tiny pin prick hole in the seam i repaired so tank is now empty and repair to commense
