Hi all, quick question again


Would betta's eat shrimp? i know they would probably eat any offspring, but would they eat adult?

Tank is heavily planted so plent of places to hide for them, but in general are are compatile?

The shrimp might grab the tails, but they wont eat them i dont' think

Depends very much on the temperament of the Betta. Some will live quite happily with shrimp and others won't tolerate them at all and consider them to be fair game!!!

If you put them in then just be ready with the net incase he thinks it's feeding time.

Thanks all for your replies , may have to give it a miss if theres a possibilty of been eaten, not a great loss ill just set up another tank

Was your tank planted?

I was going to buy a betta today but didnt risk it just in case it ate my shrimp, has anyone successfully kept a male and some shrimp as the person that worked there said they should be ok, but im not too sure

When I had my females they ate 20 shrimp straight, between about 10 girls, I don't recommend it

G_Thing: As we may have chatted about before, I keep Boris in with shrimp and he doesn't pay any attention to them, but all bettas are different and some may ignore them, some may be curious and some may see them as food. It is really a case of trying and finding out. Not very nice for the shrimp if it doesn't work but it's the only way to know. Of course a planted tank will help a LOT because the shrimp will hide and can be very good at disguising themselves.
