i have 3 male guppys and i would like to add balloon mollys to my tank, how big will they get and if i get 1 male and 2 females ( i will have babies) but will the male guppies breed with the mollies and stress them cos they have 4 males chasing them

thanks for your help!!

male guppies will try to breed with anything, and guppies and mollies can cross breed as such although fry are usually very weak and rarely reach adulthood

There wouldn't be much you could do to stop them from trying to breed. My own guppies have developed a cory fetish, it's quite odd...

I would suggest buying some guppy females for them if your tank specs allow. The rule is 2 females to one male, but if you can't fit that many more fish into your tank, add what you can. Anything is better than nothing to keep the persistence levels low. :p

Also might try buying a "no means no" poster for your fish room. :good:

so, i can buy the 1:2 ratio of ballon mollys and non of the fry will survive but will they get stressed with constantly being presured to breed or shall i try and get 3 males?
