Hi

I was wondering whether these 2 Killifish (Epiplatys dageti monroviae and Pseudoepiplatys annulatus) would be compatable to keep in the same tank. If so what would be the recommendation of a suitable tank size.

If they cannot be kept together what sort of size tank would be sufficient to keep a small group of either speices.

Thanks
Dave

The two species could live together in a densely planted tank but I wouldn't recommend it, mainly because of the size difference. Saying that, annulatus can be quite boisterious amongst their own species given it's small size.
I would tend to afford them a species tank each. 12"x8"x8" would do perfectly fine for a trio of annulatus and a slightly larger 18"8"x8" will do for a pair/trio dageti. Sponge or box filter in each tank. As you are keeping them in such a small body of water then don't forget to waterchange on a regular basis. Cleanliness is a must. Vary their diet with frozen and livefoods.
I hope this was of some help to you.

Thanks BigC very useful information,
I have just purchased a 54 Litre tank, I think it measures 24x12x12, could they be ok in this with it being planted? in it is a small internal filter.

If not reccommended together would the dageti be a better species to have with a few other fish (Not Sure what) maybe a small bottom feeder or a dwarf cichlid. What would you feel would be compatable if anything.

Thanks

Epiplatys Dageti would be much easier to keep and spawn than annulatus. I would go with the Dageti in that tank for the moment. Plant it well add floating plants such as Salvinia and leave some open water for swimming. Don't have the tank like a washing machine with an overly powerful internal filter. (this will drive the Dageti down to lower water level) Tank mates I would include would be some nice species of Corydoras (seek out some rarities rather than the run of the mill ones) You could maybe add a small pair of Apistigrammas. But if they spawn it may be a problem for the other inhabitants as the dwarf cichlids will defend their fry and territory fiercely. I would opt for a peaceful approach and choose Dageti and some nice Cories.
