I'd like to order these fish.............will this work in a 55 gal tank?

Malawi:
Copadochromis azureus (Mloto Fluorescent Hai Reef)
Metriaclima lombardoi (Kenyi)
Pseudotropheus msobo (Magunga Red)
Pseudotropheus salousi
Pseudotropheus acei (Ngara White Tail)
Pseudotropheus zebra (OB Mbamba Bay)
Pseudotropheus socolofi

Tanganyika:
Altolamprologus calvus (White)
Altolamprologus compressiceps (Orange)

They are all about 6 inches and smaller from research gathered on each.

How many of each were you going to add? If your intention is to add 1 male and 3+ females (which is highly recomended), I wouldn't go with more than 3 species.

Personally, I wouldn't mix Copadochromis azureus with other mbuna as typical mbuna is far more active. Males grow up to 6.5 inches and 5ft tank is usually recomeneded for this species. Cyrtocara moorii and Auloncara are better tankmates.

I second Chooklet's suggestion on not mixing lake Malawi and Tang species together. Altolamprologus are slow muving, slow growing fishes - near opposite to typical mbuna's attributes. Also, diet requirements are totally different.

Drop lombadoi and probably Pseudotropheus msobo as well - they are seriously over-aggressive for 55g tanks... Watch out for zebra and socolofi as well - they will become more aggressive as they become mature...

You are missing one species that almost everyone universally likes  - how about Labidochromis caeruleus? Also, if you like Iodotropheus sprengeraes, it would work nicely as well.

:D Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your guidance. I'm still mulling everything over for my next fish order.

Are all this fish going into your 55 gallon tank???(your sig) cause if it is you could get away with it, but with the exception of the lake tang fish. If you want to keep more fish in there, then my suggestion is to keep a single species, but if you want them to breed your better off getting 2 species with a 1 male to 3 female ratio....
