Hi guys,

With recently upgradin from a 90 litre to an 405 litre my tank is looking a little bare currently i have:

3 medium angels
1 small severum
2 medium common plecos
2 small bn pleco

I also have 1 fighter, 3 mollie juvies and a guppy but these will be moved into my 2nd tank once ive quarantined all the stock for my main tank

Currently in quarantine:

2 silver sharks
5 glowlight tetras

Now im looking at some giant danios to go in next but im wanting to know what u guys have that brings the tank to life!

The mrs wants parrot fish but ive read them and angels arent the best when they mature!

Ta!

Chris

Hi there Chris,

Where are the fighters, mollies and guppies at the moment? Are they male or female guppies and is the fighter a male also?
Are you aware that the Silver Sharks, also known as the Bala Shark, can grow up to 35cm + and need to be in a group of six or more? The 405L won't be quite big enough in the long run :p

As well as the Angels not being ok with the Parrot Fish - I don't see them getting on to well with the Severum once they hit maturity either, possibly not each other too. Another member might contest but I personally wouldn't have any other Cichlid with Angels apart from Discus - The Angels will hit sexual maturity at around 6 months depending on their condition and speaking from personal experience as I brought six to find a breeding pair, as soon as the "bug" hits so to speak, they just are relentless at trying to kill each other :p 3 might be ok in a tank twice the size as mine, but it all depends on the individual personality of the Angel so just keep an eye!

Are you looking at shoaling fish to go in there? Something peaceful or well, with the Danios it will certainly be energetic.
They don't really "match" with the Angels as they come from fast, clear rivers in Sri Lanka where as the Angels are South American based.
The temperatures are also different with the Danios thriving best in a cooler environment of up to around 22 degrees, possibly lower and Angels preferring the slightly warmer side of things up to 28.
Putting fish from colder waters into warmer waters can have a dramatic effect on their metabolisms, speeding it up and drastically reducing its life span.

Now don't feel I'm having a go because I'm certainly not, just throwing some advice out there if you wish to know more :)

The Cherry Barbs I have in with my Angels provide a lovely colour variation against the planted background but aren't tight shoaling, but it'll be easier to suggest if I know more of what you'd like? :p

Its a male fighter and female guppy im aware that fighters will attack anything bright with flowy tails they have been together in a 54l for months with no issues.

They are currently all in the main 405l tank as there tank is being used to quarantine the bala's

I knew how big they get but didnt no about how many to keep in a group, so 2 will have to do :p!General concensus is that they are quite peacefull in a community environment. Theyre only about 2-3 inches atm.

Dont feel like your having a go at all i posted here for more experience fishkeepers to advise me which is what your doing :D

I love my angels so would want to base anything around those really!

I was looking at danios as ive heard the shoal quite well and are really energetic! Would discus be ok! As i think they are lovely looking fish i read they dont really mix with angels?? Would they cope with the flow off my two external filters??
