Just thinking. I have a 29 gallon. I'm stuck between convicts a gentle community fish. If I do go the community tank route would this stock work?

1 Marble Angelfish
4 or so black skirt tails
4 or so rasboras
1 blue ram

Any other suggestions?

Or what about 1 cockatoo dwarf cichlid, 5 guppies, 4 black skirt tails, 4 rasboras, 5 neons.

First stocking could be made work, assuming the tank was over 18 inches tall, and the black skirts and angel had nicer than normal temprements :good:

The second stocking would not work I'm afraid  The black skirts would rip the male guppies to pices, regardless of how nice they were

I thought about the cockatoo cichlid until I found out the price-like $60.

But would ths work

Marble Angel
4 black skirt tails
4 rasboras
1 australian rainbow or demsoni rainbow
And maybe an Apistogramma cichlid of some sort

Swap the black phantom tetras for a group of smaller rainbows. The phantoms are prone to nipping angles. Rainbow fish need a group, of 6 as a minimum. You could look at the dwarf Werneri rainbows, failing that a small group of the bosmani or common red/blue rainbows would be a good choice.

With big waterchanges weekly, this would be a good mixture IMO.

Boesemani Rainbows get fairly large 4" and really need a 4 foot long tank as they are very active. If you don't have the space a smaller rainbow species may be better. To throw another fish into the mix. Gold Barbs look amazing in a big school. They also only reach 3" are peaceful and resiliant.

:good:

OK let's try this.

Marble Angel
4 rasboras
4 red sword tails
4 guppies

Any other suggestions?

Black Phantom or Black Widow Tetras?
Black Widow Tetras are incredibly nippy whereas the Black Phantom are a more peaceful fish.
How about:

1 Marble Angel
6 Black Phantom Tetras
6 Harlequin Rasboras

How about:

1 Marble Angel
6 Black Phantom Tetras
6 Harlequin Rasboras

What about

Marble Angel
3 rosy barbs or 3 gold barbs
6 rasboras

Rosy Barbs can also be quite nippy, unfortunately, so I wouldn't add any of those.
If it's Barbs you like, then go for either 6 Pentazona Barbs or 6 Cherry Barbs.

Isn't a Pentazona Barb. a tider barb? I thought they were aggressive. I see their not, but the look like a tiger barb.

So is this good.

1 marble angel
6 Pentazona Barbs
6 Rasboras

not to burst any bubbles but angels are a lot happier kept in groups or at least pairs.

as long as you have the height and an open space at the front for them to swim as well as large hiding places at the back then sure. :good:

So I can get

2 marble angelish
6 rasboras
6 Featherfin Rainbowfish

My aquarium will have plants and a piece of bogwood in it.

I need help with finding a suitable combination. Keep in mind it's a 29 gallpn. It will have plants as well a bogwood in it. I think it has the height and width suitable to angelfish.

My stocking list

2 marble angels
6 rasboras
6 featherfin raindowfish or 6 Pentazona Barbs or 6 cherry barbs (whichever I can find)
3 guppies

Is this too much for my 29?
