Common Plec

Hi again. Awhile ago I mentioned my common plec had a blistered tail and someone suggested he may be hugging the heater. Well, I went out and purchased a heater cover about 2 weeks ago but if anything the blisters are worse. The tank he's in gets twice weekly water changes of about 20% and the nitrite and ammonia levels remain at nil. Please has anyone any other suggestions. None of the other fish seem affected.

they could be nipping it

it happened to mine when she was small but as she grew they left her and didnt nip any more

Thanks for the speedy reply. It's a thought but he's about 7 inches long with a tough old skin. Other fishies are cichlids rainbow shark and loaches

do you ever see any of the other fish nipping or chaseing him

No they all seem wary of him
