Hello,
I work at my lfs. I was way into fish beforehand but they have training classes that you are required to go to if you dont test out of them. I cant say I know what was taught at the class but I am sure they covered the basics and I am kinda impressed they took the time to educate their employees with an actual class on fish. I wish however they would have spent more time teaching my fellow employees how to net a fish. Oh how I love watching one of the girls I work with trying to catch giant danios with one small net

Drew

Edit-Love fish, just not the way they taste.

When LFS don't train employees how to net fish, the fish end up getting hurt. I once watched someone try to net a yellow tang in the same tank as a lionfish. Could have hurt.

Interesting poll! When i'm getting fish I usualy ask the people that are working to get a guy I like at my LFS.

When I got my crayfish it was a young girl about 17 that got it from the tank for me, She took about 10 minutes just to get it in the net (Alough fair enough, They are tricky to catch, But she used a very small net) She DROPPED it into the bag, I said I didn't want that one since she almost threw it into the bag then said "Ewww I hate those things" ...... IMO it just isn't acceptable.

The guy that I like at my LFS knows his stuff, If I go and he isnt working, I come back another time as I like talking to him.

Anyway i've forgot what I was talking about, I'm away to the pub, cya!

I work at a good LFS. They didn't need to train me in anything but their rules, regulations and ethically stances as I knew it already! But they do train un-knowledgeable people well.

I work at my lfs and found the training to be good. There are also certain procedures to follow and we must always ask questions when customers come in to buy fish, regarding tank size, compatibility etc.

Jourdy - Grammatically!
