I have a 60 gallon tank 48 long currently containing 3 red belly pironhas that i am selling. Im looking to convert my tank to a african tank. I have already got my crushed coral as my substrate and i have a bunch of slate for rocks and caves. I am running both a rena xP2 canister filter and a regent 30-60 hang on back filter. I have 34 watts of light and was wondering what the most colourful africans i can put in this tank. Any suggestions on how i should stock it. I want an electric yellow and an electric blue ahli forsure. Looking for something orange then a few other colourful ones i can put in it that will be compatable with these and the 6 inch pleco i currently have in a comunity tank that im going to be putting in with them.

They are a beatiful addition to any african setup. I have a trio in a 55 gallon with some electric yellows, and female red zebra's. I have nothing but good things to say about these fish, and they shouldnt be to hard to find. As with any fish, make sure you do lots of reading before you go and make a purchase.

Good luck with your new setuip!

So so far you want a Hap. Ahli or Fryeri (very similar fish but the Fryeri is more common).

The Lab Caeruleus (electric yellow) is a grouping fish that get's along well with smaller Haps like the above, but because they are social fish you should get at least 3 or 4 instead of just one, to keep them at their best.

It's also best to do either a haplichromine and peacock tank (which electric yellows fit into nicely, or an mbuna tank (which electric yellows also fit into nicely), but mixing them is best avoided because of aggression, activity and diet differences, as well as how crowded they like the tank.
