Hi all. When I bought this guppy, just a few weeks ago, I'm sure the black in the tail went all the way to the tip.

Is it possible for the colour to fade, recede? If so, why?

Note to self - must clean the glass more often!

you may have bought this fish as a teenager as they get colour some of it fades or changes in my experience. same with goldies they are black to start with and it slowly recedes to orange. it may also be a sign of attack or fin rot

Here's a good fact that might help clear thing's up for you.

When a male guppy does not get to mate, Not females in tank, It's colour recedes due to excuse the expression(Being overloaded)

Also the colour in the females recedes on the five day's up to birth, then goes vibrant again within 2-4 hours of birth.

This may help you with you question.

If their are females in your tank, he may be gay: You never know

is there any fin nipping fish in the tank.he could be trying to make his tail grow bigger?
