i have had a small 5 gal tank running for about a month i got it second hand and i had it set up with a goldfish in it. i have taken the goldfish out and put it in a different tank and i have brought it up to about 26c degrees and i was wondering whether i could isolate my female swordtail in it now
thanks in advance

Off course you can...... 1 x fish in a 5 gallon...... can even put 1 more female with her plus 1 x male.... (thats the limit) in yer 5 gallon......

would i be able to breed my pair of dwarf gouramis in it instead of the swordtails. i just wondered whether the bacteria would be ok

That's pushing it.... Stick to yer sword idea....

A 5 gallon isn't really suitable long-term for swordtails, and its not suitable at all for dwarf gouramis.

Why do you want to isolate your swordtail? Is it ill?
