i just sawed open a coconut and cleaned it out, will this be ok to put in my fish tank?

well, my dad just told me i cant use young coconut cause it will rot. i boiled it twice already, what should i do with the coconut now?

i bought a half coconut shell from the pet store ( supposed to be for lizzards)
have had it in there for a year and no problems
rainbow sharks love it!

If the shell is dark brown then it should be alright. If you think its still young then you'll need to dry it for a few days in the sun.
