My java fern came to me in a coconut fibre mat. Should I leave them?

Will nerites eat moss balls? I've heard they're a type of algae.

Im sorry what does the cocunut fibre mat look like? As long as their roots are exposed it should be fine.

Moss balls are a form of algae, but nerites have no interest in them, i have many that dont touch it, actually everything prefers not to eat them lol

Java moss doesn't really have roots. The moss will soon cover up the matting.
Its java fern though.

Never once seen any of my 5 nerite snails anywhere near my moss balls.

Java fern will  pretty much grow on anything it's attached to as long as it alive, has roots and the rhizome is not buried
