thanx to ferris i now have a heads uop and where i can get soem from!

i have a few qyustions now.

bascially i don;t like the females, and don't think i could handle it if they breed just yet im to inexperienced.

so i have a community tank with guppies, neons siliver tips otos and cories, it currentyl hosues rams to.

could a cockatoo male go in here if i moved the rams to my other tank

my second option is to put a singel male in my new tnak, which is my amazon themed 40 gl long, but i also wanted to hosue a couple of apris of rams in here would he go in there?

i guessing he would go best in the comunity tank once the rams have gone?

cheers guys

Yes, if the pairs of rams weren't there. Not sure about rams, but breeding apistos can get territorial and nip/chase other fish. Not sure exactly why you decided against getting females, but when they turn yellow, they can be very pretty. You also don't have to worry about being overrun with fry. They won't breed nearly as often as guppies, they won't have a successful batch right away, and most of the fry could be eaten (depending on parenting of the fish and the other fish in the tank).

I would say to stick with the rams, or re-house them if you really want a cockatoo. The males will compete for territory...especially if there are ladies around.
