I am looking towards this lovely fish to be the feature of my community aquarium however I have read that they like to be fed crustacians (spelt badly!)

..I have shrimp in my planted tank. 3 of them are far too big to worry about, but my cherry shrimp are a bit on the small side.

Does anyone know if the cockatoo dwarf would yum them up? :pepsi:

If they do like to eat them - has anyone kept this fish and shrimps successfully?

Thanks

I have kept Apistogramma cacatuoides with glass shrimp and they were fine, but i have not kept cherry shrimp so can't comment on them. In general A. cacatuoides are peaceful and shouldn't cause any problems. They only get to about 2 inches for males and a bit less for females. They will readily eat daphnia but adult cherry shrimp are somewhat larger than a daphnia so I guess the young cherry shrimp are a probable snack, whereas the adult shrimp should be fine. If you keep the fish well fed then they will be less inclined to eating the shrimp.

thanks both - really smashingly good news!!!

- if the shop have some tomorow - They're mine!!

:fish:

(am gonna be bouncing with excitement until next week if they're not in stock tomorow ....)

Have a great weekend!
