Morning,

I'm pretty new to this whole planted aquarium thing. I'm having a few problems with my plants (amazon swords in particular). They are growing but the new growth looks brown/red colour and a few other plants like my grasses are slowly turning yellow.

I've been using plant food on a regular basis but the plants don't seem to get any healthier. I only have one plant in my tank which is flourishing.

I think tinkering with the Co2 levels etc is next on the list of things to do, but I don't know where to start. I know you can get diffusers etc which cost a bomb, but I'd like to find a more cost effective way of getting Co2 into my tank. Someone said you can buy it in aerosol form and pump it through a pipe? Is this true?

Any advice will be gratefully received!

Cheers,

Chris

It all depends on what lighting and size of you tank to what we would recommend. There are a few different ways of dosing C02, from pressurised units, home made yeast kits to liquid carbon. If you can give us the size of the tank and wattage of the bulb/bulbs.

Cheers for replying, I've got a 4ft x 2ft x 1ft tank with a 36 inch 30w T5 tropical lamp in the lid.

I've been thinking of maybe putting another bulb in but I don't think I really have the space for it in the lid.

I've just got really small black gravel at the moment and have just dug the plants into it and covered them, could this be the reason?

Thanks again mate,

Chris
