Co2 System Creates White Specks On Wood

I think my baby died of a tumour. Since we don't know what causes most tumours, I can't take a chance on leaving these water mites alive, in case they had something to do with this death. Especially since this fish was one-third of my stock of a rare species. So I'm gonna nuke the tank with a parasite medicine.

BTW, last night I removed the newer piece of wood, that didn't have so many plant roots attached to it. I scrubbed, boiled, and then scrubbed it again. (Plants removed, of course).
Then I put it back in the tank......this morning I could see 4 of those white mites on it, down near the gravel! So they must also be in the gravel, which means I'll do a thorough gravel vacuuming, before I dose the med. I think I'll use Jungle Lab's Parasite Guard, which is a mixture of sodium chloride, trichlorfon, and diflubenzuron.

Sounds good to me on the parasite medicine. That's really too bad about that little pleco, but hopefully now since one is smaller and one larger you'll have a pair. :D

Thanks for the positive thinking! It'll take awhile to find out their sex, since they're still less than 1.5 inches long (3.8cm).

Juvenile plecos look amazing. If only they would stay that size :)

Keep us updated on how this goes for you, Im sure the result will come in handy for other people in the future as it seems this isn't a regular occurance in most folks tanks.
