Hi All,

I have set up my CO2 system for a few days now - just getting to grips with it - DD presurised with ceramic diffuser.

I set up a non return valve above the tank ( algarde) and after 2 days i noticed that the glassN/R in the tank had failed and the Algarde had some water in it.
Im obviously a bit concerned as i have not set it up right but chuffed the failsafe worked.

I just wondering what everyone else is using and whats the best for reliability.

My wife would kill me if the aquarium emptied over the floor.

Many thanks

Any ideas please ?

I really dont want a wet floor.

Is it a full pressurized system? I run two pressurized systems and was confused on a lot of the parts you named... But anyway best way with pressurized is you need BRASS or at least metal check valves I would suggest at least one. Don't use the plastic ones for airlines, the glass ones IDK anything about. I have 2 of them but don't use them as I have no idea how to get them to work... Where to place a check valve depends how you system is setup, but I would put it between the bubble counter and needle valve if that is an option.

Many thanks for that,

I will have a look around the more expensive shops for a brass one.

Do you have your bubble counter in or out of the water ?

All the bubble counters that i have seen have been inside the fishtank under the water, I am getting a full Co2 kit this Friday so i am very interested in these topics.

bubble counters can be it the tank, but you're more likely to see them outside the tank. You can buy glass diffusers with a built in counter. It's always good to check your NRV by blowing into it before use, obviously the end you cannot blow into is non return bit.

Yes i must appologise that is what i meant its the tailfun diffusor you can then see the bubbles slowly rising inside it.

While a lot of inline bubble counters can go in or out of the tank, most keep them out of the tank. Because there is no reason for them to be in the tank. Just adds more equipment. You can buy the brass/metal ones of Ebay. Thats where I get mine along with basically all CO2 equipment that isn't a regulator, tank, or needle valve...
