Hi there,

In the process of setting up my CO2 kit - I have a few questions:

1. What BPM should i be running at with a 190ltr tank? Do i need to keep trialling and erroring until it reaches a certain PPM?

2. Power sockets - i'm a bit concerned as to the number of power sockets my tank is now using through 1 power socket :hyper:

heater
pump
main lights
55w compacts
36w compacts
solenoid
venture pump

is this a fire hazard?!

You need to be monitoring your KH and PH and use that on the CO2 chart to find out what it is. I would start slowly with 1 bubble every 2 seconds and gradually increase till you get the desired CO2 level.

Regarding power sockets:
My 2 sockets use:
12 powerheads, 2 halides, 1 fluoroscent, 2 LEDs, 3 heaters, 1 skimmer, 1 sump pump, 1 sump light, and an extension going into: A PC, 42" plasma screen, sky+, DVD recorder, AV Transreciever, Speaker amp

Now that would be a firehazard probably.

1 bubble every 2 secs sounds about right but you need to trial & error because it depends on plants, lighting etc.

i have filter, 48watts of T5's, 200w heater, air pump, spotlights

on other tank, 51watts of light, UV sterilizer, filter, heater

Not much compared to Nim's!

only got a dipstick test that measures the KH, but i have a co2 test - the ferplast one but it seems pretty rubbish :shout:

With pressurized, it will be worth investing in a drop checker, you can get the 4DKH solution from AE & it will last you for ages. Or you could make your own.

set the main valve to 1 bar, however it has dropped to just below 1 bar now over the past few hours. do i have a leak or is this normal? i thought i had found all of my leaks :shout:

The bubble rate varies from tank to tank as it depends on loads of different factors. I run my 90lt at 1bps. Start it at that and take it from there.

That is normal i think, it should rectify after 24hrs, just keep maintaining the pressure.

I think i read it in 1 of jimbooo's journals, he bought the denerle kit and george offered him that advice.
